Fing is a free application for iOS that enables us to monitor our network and know which devices are connected to it, some very interesting information about the different devices.

With the proliferation of wireless networks and the growing number of devices that connect to it is almost a prerequisite to have our monitored network and controlling which devices are connected to it. Through Unofficial few simple steps we are going to teach our monitoring network from the iPad or iPhone by Fing, a very simple application that allows us to take a look at our network devices.

The first thing you have to do is download the application and install it on our devices.

Once downloaded the application, this will begin to dwindle around our network open for the first time, showing all the devices connected to it along with your IP address, network mask, and a unique identifier that can change from section to enable this effect within the app options:

As can be seen in the picture above, the interface shows Fing, almost entirely all devices connected to our network and automatically gives us information such as your IP and MAC address , so that it is much easier to remove your connection if not recognize the device. Fing addition includes some interesting options if we tap on the device in question, such as scanning services, s acar from rest to the computer (if it supports the Wake on Lan function) or display a log of network activity of the same .

We can also see at a glance the services enabled on your router to ensure they are operating and rule out problems with it in case we have any conflict with any device connection:

Although simple, Fing allows us to see at a glance the list of connected devices informing all the parameters of interest thereon. And why is it useful? Very simple.

If there is any unknown computer on our network, that is, someone is connecting to it because our encryption is poor or have left open the connection, we can know the details appliance and limit their connection through the our router MAC encryption . In this way we can optimize our network to ensure that only the devices connected to it we want.

In this case, each router has its own settings for connection by MAC address filtering devices, so you'll have to refer to the manufacturer's documentation for your router so you can apply to optimize and leverage our connection to the maximum limited to devices that we want and no more.
